We are looking for an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant who is passionate about working with pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.  The consultant provides follow-up breastfeeding support to WIC participants experiencing complex maternal and infant breastfeeding problems which are beyond the scope of practice of Breastfeeding Peer Counselors and WIC staff.  Provides timely follow-up services by telephone, WIC clinic visits and/or meetings at a neutral location with pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.  Acts as the designated expert within the WIC team, providing breastfeeding education to WIC staff and Breastfeeding Peer Counselors.  Will provide services to WIC participants in seven counties in central Iowa. 

Casual, on call position, averaging approximately 10 hours per week, $15.00 per hour.

Breastfeeding Peer Counselor - Ames or Marshalltown , IA

 

Are you passionate about breastfeeding?  Do you enjoy sharing your personal breastfeeding experiences with other moms?  Then this may be the perfect job for you!  Join the WIC team as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor and provide basic breastfeeding information, support and encouragement to new mothers.  Counsel pregnant and breastfeeding WIC mothers at the WIC clinic during scheduled clinic hours, and by phone, email, text outside of usual clinic hours.  Educate mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and getting a good start with breastfeeding.  You will provide services to WIC participants in seven counties in central Iowa.

Seeking individuals with great customer service skills to join the team at our Family Development Centers in our five county service area.  This is casual position, working as-needed to fill in for regular staff when they are out of the office.  The assistant will assist families to apply for resources, program services, and work with them to resolve crisis situations.  Strong communication skills and the ability to learn and effectively use a variety of computing software and databases is required.

AmeriCorps Volunteer Position – Disaster Case Manager

 

2 positions available- position locations will be at one of our 5 sites locations in Hardin, Poweshiek, Marshall, Tama, or Story Counties, and also remotely from member’s home as well.

Mid-Iowa Community Action (MICA) in partnership with the Iowa Community Action Association, is seeking motivated individuals to serve as Disaster Case Managers AmeriCorp Members. Disaster Case Managers will connect with impacted communities by developing relationships with applicants and connecting them to federal, state, and local resources to aid them in their recovery.

 

The AmeriCorps member must have:

  • Willingness and ability to serve as a team member, provide support, communicate clearly, ask for guidance when needed, and admit mistakes
