What is the Love Responsibly Auction?
The Love Responsibly Auction is a silent auction benefit that MICA runs in conjunction with the Ames Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The auction is now in its 9th year. Its main goals are to allow us to raise awareness for those who are suffering from HIV/AIDS in central Iowa as well as replenish the Living with HIV’s Program Assistance Fund, which is used to help clients cover expenses such as rent, utilities, car maintenance, or the gas required to drive to doctor’s appointments.
The 2013 auction will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, located at 1015 North Hyland Avenue in Ames, from 6:00-9:00 p.m on Thursday, April 4th. An admission donation of $20 is suggested. Several local performers have been invited to provide entertainment throughout the evening.
What is the Living with HIV program?
Since 2000, MICA’s Living with HIV program has provided a crucial service to men, women, and children in central Iowa affected by HIV/AIDS. Case managers advocate on behalf of clients to obtain life-saving medical care and prescription drug coverage. Clients are quickly linked to essential mental health and substance abuse services, as well as food pantries, clothing closets, and subsidized housing programs. In addition, MICA offers a support group, which encourages clients to be proactive with their health issues. You can find more information here.
