Bilingual Family Development Specialist – Marshall Co.

Full-time position working with families in a strength based approach to identify challenges to well-being, establish goals and develop written plans. Facilitates use of resources and serves as a source of support. Recruits families for MICA programs. Maintains program compliance and accurate records. Collaborates with other agencies.  Position funded through September, 2015.

Office Assistant - Ames

Part time position April – August, Full time position – September - March

Assists families in applying for resources and program services. Helps families resolve crisis situations and assists in determining eligibility and taking applications for MICA’s programs.

Dentist – Ames, IA

Infant Toddler Development Specialist

Full-time position serving Marshall County.  Main office in Marshalltown.  Will plan and implement home-based child development services for families of children 0-3.  Will work one-on-one with families.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition, Dietetics, Community Nutrition or related field, must have completed the minimum undergraduate requirements that have been outlined by the Council on Educational Preparation of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Must be approved by State WIC Program Office.
  • Licensed Dietitian in State of Iowa.
  • Prefer internship and other experience in community nutrition, including services to children 0-6 years of age.

Traveling Assistant Teacher – Full Time for 9 months

Provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Early Head Start (EHS) or Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of EHS or Head Start children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program.  This position must perform regular duties at the assigned worksite. Must be able to travel to any of MICA’s 5 Head Start/Early Head Start counties to provide services (Hardin, Marshall, Poweshiek, Story or Tama).

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education or enrolled in a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential program through the Council for Professional Recognition to be completed within 2 years of hire
  • Experience working with children 0-5 years of age
  • Preference is given to applicants who have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential appropriate for the age group with which they will be working.
