Individual Development Accounts

The Individual Development Accounts program is a partnership of selected Iowa credit unions and families. The goal of the program is to provide low-income Iowans an incentive to develop savings habits as they pursue home ownership, higher education, or the start-up or expansion of a small business.

IDAs are matched savings programs designed to build assets among low-income families. After meeting specified criteria, qualifying individuals will commit to saving regularly for a set period of time. At the end of this period, savings will be matched if they are destined for the following asset building purposes: first-time homeownership, higher education or vocational training and the start up or expansion of a small business.
